Balayage or Ombre?  That is the question on many women’s minds.  What makes Balayage and Ombre hairstyles so popular these days and which style is right for you?  Well, we’re hoping to answer a lot of the questions right here on this blog post and if we don’t you’re more than welcome to contact us for information.

One of the main reasons these two styles have exploded onto the scene is not only the fact that the top celebrities on the big screen are sporting the look, but it’s the unique way they are applied to the hair compared to the traditional technique of coloring.

Do you ever think the natural and exquisite look will ever go out of style?  I’m going to go out on a ledge and say nope.  That is what you’re getting when you decide to go with Balayage.  A very natural look with a touch of sun that will add to a magnificent glow.

In comparison if you’re more of the edgy or audacious type of girl Ombre may the choice for you.  Traditionally Ombre starts shadowy at the scalp and fades into a lighter color all the way down to the ends of your hair giving the tips a marvelous sun-kissed type of tone.

So now that you’re a little more familiar with Balayage and Ombre we can dive into the essential of this article. Let’s take a more in-depth look at these two brilliant techniques shall we?

Balayage Being Applied

Balayage, the French word meaning to sweep or to paint which is exactly how your stylist will manually apply Balayage to your hair.  Balayage comes from the French and has been around since the 1970s so this is not a new technique but is becoming very popular at a very rapid pace.

Balayage has made its way into the world of the celebrities and the A-listers have gladly embraced the method with open arms.  Naturally we all want that look of a superstar and that is why the new trend is the most asked for coloring technique in the salons today.

To break it down for you a little more let’s take a look at a list of reasons of what makes this style so widespread and desirable:

1. Balayage is hair coloring in its truest form.
2. Less is more. Your Colorist doesn’t have to do hundreds and hundreds of pieces like with other coloring processes.
3. Balayage is not just for blondes. It’s considered a technique so it can be applied to your specific hair color.

To add to this section on Balayage when picking out a color with your stylist take into consideration the color of accessories you usually wear. With the right shades of Balayage applied to your hair, this could really bring out the best in your whole ensemble.  Okay, all of my daring and edgy girls out there.  This one is definitely for you.  If you’re looking to spice up your life via a new hairstyle this style is definitely down your alley.

Ombre Hair in Salon

Okay, all of my daring and edgy girls out there. This one is definitely for you.  If you’re looking to spice up your life via a new hairstyle this style is definitely down your alley.

On the contrast of Balayage, Ombre will start off dark from the roots and flow into a lighter shade and has also been known to need more maintenance than Balayage.  If you’re not worried about time well spent in the salon chair then brush that off as a give and take type of situation.

Don’t be fooled by the merge of Balayage movement.  Ombre is still going very strong and plenty of A-list celebrities utilize this technique for their own style.

Even though Ombre has been known to be a little edgy it still has a very fine and elegant touch.  Many of you can definitely pull Ombre off to the fullest so don’t be afraid to be a little daring.  When applied professionally who knows the possibilities of what it can bring out in you? Sometimes a new hairstyle is all we need to spark that special something that lives inside of all of us.

Here is a list of benefits for you to check out before you indulge into Ombre hair:

1. Ombre is very trendy. Many top celebrities are going with the Ombre style and it is not going away anytime soon.
2. Enables you to make striking change without the risk of damaging the roots and scalp of your hair.
3. Shades of Ombre are very dexterous. You can be as creative as you please.

Now you decide.  Balayage or Ombre?

This is the wonderful thing about being a woman in 2015. You can do so much with hair styles these days it gives you the freedom to really express yourself to the world.  We certainly all have our own type of personalities and most women reveal that through their hairstyles.  To us, that is very inspiring.

Both Balayage and Ombre can be used in so many different ways, the avenues you can take are endless.  The main thing we suggest is to inform your stylist about the ideas you have for your new hairdo and please don’t try to do this at home.  Too many times we have seen the homemade hair coloring on people that don’t want to pay for quality work.  Of course, it’s your hair but for the purpose of saving you time and money we suggest you consult a professional.

Hope this helped anyone looking into Balayage or Ombre.  If you have any more questions please reach out to us and our professional Balayage specialist Michele Fury will be happy to answer any questions you may have.  You can also share this on Facebook if you think this will help any other people out there curious about Balayage or Ombre hair styles.

Tips and tricks on how to care for your balayage hair.

We got with our expert Balayage specialist Michele Fury to give us her advice on the best way to go about caring for balayage hair.  One of the main things she suggested is to not wash your hair for 72 hours with shampoo.

The reason for this is because it takes time for the cuticle of the hair to shut after it has been unlocked during a coloring session.  Michele also implied that you can rinse or condition the hair but definitely avoid shampooing.

Here are some tips we came away with after consulting with Michele Fury:

  1. Prive shampoo and conditioner are great products for balayage hair.
  2. If your home has hard water or highly chlorinated water the Malibu treatment is suggested.
  3. For healthy blondes, Michele advises you to use an Olaplex treatment in the salon and take that home to maintain your color.

So if you’re considering a brighter look and want to accomplish this with highlights we believe you need to get familiar with the balayage technique. There’s a reason you see a lot of celebrities, friends, and family trying this popular style out.

If you have any questions at all and want professional advice from someone that has been in the game for over 18 years then all you have to do is reach out.
